Caspian will be new and future generation port of the Caspian Sea

A joint meeting was held of trade delegation consisting of investors of Russian grain sector with port and economic deputies of the Anzali Free Zone Organization about feasibility of investment in logistics and infrastructure fields.

Amin Ofoghi deputy of Port and Caspian Sea affaires of Anzali Free Zone Organization said about on long-term history of Anzali port in transit of goods and also presented information about Caspian port complex and its logistics , port capacities and development plans, and pointed to joint commission of Iran and Russia, the multi-literal memorandum of understanding that have been concluded between the Russian government, Anzali Free Zone, Chabahar Free Zone and Indian Transport Association, which is being implemented as a bilateral document between two countries.

The activities of his respective organization in direction on activation of the North-South Corridor through Caspian port to Astrakhan and then St. Petersburg and Hamburg and connection of this port to national railway is an expression of serious determination of government of Islamic Republic of Iran to activate international corridors, he also welcomed to investment of Russian companies in different parts of this region and cooperation with Russian ports.

Vahid Talebpour, economic deputy of Azad Anzali emphasized on investment opportunities of the region and provided an analysis of benefits and legal exemptions of this region for operation of foreign investors by stating that out of a total of 3000 companies registered in Anzali Free Zone, 300 are foreign companies and 30 of them are Russian companies which most of them are active in trade business, In addition, Anzali Free Zone with two ports, Caspian and Anzali, which are operating within this area has provided good opportunities and advantages for development of commercial and economic activities of two countries.

Mr. Talebpoor pointed to 160 industrial units in Anzali Free Zone and value of 500 million dollars of exports, re-exports and exports to country, and also said about recent visit of 50 businessmen from the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia to t Anzali Free Zone and good agreements were made for shipment of goods to Russian port of Kazan, In this regard, it is possible to take a step towards attracting foreign investment by focus on investment and joint cooperation on development of infrastructure, including construction of docks, warehouses and silos.

At the end of this meeting, the Russian delegation, accompanied by the deputies and managers of the organization, visited the existing and under construction facilities and infrastructure of the Caspian port.
