In order to increase joint cooperation, Morteza Jafari, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Operation of the Iranian Railways met with Mostafa Taati Moghadam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Anzali Free Zone Organization, Reported Public Relations and International Affairs of Anzali Free Zone Organization.
In this meeting two sides exchanged views on solutions to strengthen rail transport infrastructure and increase coordination in transport and transit of goods through Anzali Free Zone railway.
In this meeting, Taati Moghadam and Morteza Jafari emphasized on development of logistics corridors and easy access of Anzali Free Zone to country's rail network, they also exchanged view on increase capacity of transport exported and imported goods and reducing transit time through domestic railway.
Mr .jafari pointed to important role of Anzali Free Zone in domestic and international trade relations and strengthening railway infrastructure in this region will not only lead to economic growth and attract investment, but also facilitate connection to international transportation network, he announced its readiness to cooperate with Anzali Free Zone Organization to implement joint projects to increase loading capacity on this transit rail route.
Taati Moghadam also considered cooperation with railway organization as an important factor in achieving commercial and transit goals of Anzali Free Zone, so by use of capabilities of railway logistics costs can be reduced and region's competitiveness can be improved at the international level."
He said, planning to create a multi-purpose rail terminal in this area is one of the main priorities of Anzali Free Zone Organization.
It is worth noting that based on the initial agreements, joint working group will be formed to accelerate doing of identified projects, and so by their cooperation rail transportation capacity will increase by 30 percent and will strange position of Anzali Free Zone as a goods transit hub in the Caspian Sea region. This will prepare way for sustainable development for expansion of trade exchanges with neighboring countries.
